Leadership — More Not Less Feedback

Effective leaders crave feedback.

Reflection

  • How can I create more opportunities to receive feedback? Great leaders require a stream of feedback to be successful. They don’t shy away, they ask for it. In your life, feedback can come from many places — friends, family, co-workers, doctors, dentists, etc.
  • How will I handle tough feedback? Positive feedback makes us feel great. It acknowledges existing skills that are competently formed within us. However, negative feedback provides an opportunity for us to grow.
  • How will I hold myself accountable for making changes relative to the feedback I received? Our minds are complex and, at times, self-serving. Soon after receiving feedback, it’s easy to feel eager to make changes. BUT…the luster can wear off quickly. This is why establishing routines for monitoring growth are imperative.

“True intuitive expertise is learned from prolonged experience with good feedback on mistakes.”
– Daniel Kahneman
